Getting around seminole county
Sanford is probably one
of the oldest continuous white settlements in
Florida. In 1870 a General Henry B Sanford brought
150 Swedes to the area, founded the town of Sanford
for them, and put them to work growing celery.
And they did. More and more of it. And it made
Sanford a centre of rail, shipping and road communications
and founded a prosperity that carries on to this
day.
Right up to 1974 Sanford
was still referred to as "Celery City", a bit
the way Fresno in California carries the name
"Bean Town". Now, as it is not far from Orlando, and
shares an international airport with that city,
Sanford is experiencing a spillover tourist boom.
With a car you can get to Orlando,
the Disney complex, MGM, the beaches and everything
else in central Florida with ease, from Sandford.
Our hire desk at the airport is at your disposal,
or you can click on the booking button now,and
we'll make sure a vehicle awaits your arrival.
